West Takes OpenerPosted Saturday, December 01, 2007 by Heather Reynolds THE LEADER STAFFPAINTED POST | Heather Reynolds scored a game-high 23 points, made seven steals and grabbed four rebounds Thursday to lead Corning West to a season-opening 49-43 victory against Elmira Free Academy in a STAC West girls basketball game. The Vikings, playing their first game in the last four seasons without star player Michelle Kirk who is a member of the American University women's team, trailed their division rivals by two points at the break, but opened fthe third quarter strong. West outscored EFA by seven points, but the Vikings took their collective foot off the accelerator. Cara Callahan netted 11 points and made four steals, while Myranda Hogan chipped in nine points and grabbed nine rebounds. EFA was led by Ariel Geter's 13 points and Mariah Mouzon's 11 points.
